This is what the calculation gives for the numbers you entered. It is an estimate, not advice, and it knows nothing about your situation beyond those numbers. Rules for United States change on a published schedule; the effective date is shown on every rule-based tool.
How this is calculated
VO2 max is the maximum rate of oxygen uptake and the standard measure of aerobic capacity. Laboratory measurement needs a mask and a graded test to exhaustion; the field estimates here fit a regression to a submaximal or time-trial performance. The Cooper test is a hard twelve minute effort and is the most direct. All the estimates carry ten to fifteen percent error, so a change of two points between tests is inside the noise, and tracking the trend across several tests is more informative than any single number.

Each of these is asserted on every build. If a change to the engine ever moved one of these answers, the build would fail before the page could print it.

What it assumes
- A genuinely maximal effort for the Cooper test, which pacing errors easily spoil.
What it deliberately does not model
- Field estimates carry ten to fifteen percent error against laboratory measurement.
- Pacing, terrain, heat and motivation all affect the result more than fitness changes do week to week.
- VO2 max is one component of endurance performance and not the whole of it.

Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is this?
- Within ten to fifteen percent of a laboratory test, which means a two point change between tests tells you nothing. Track the trend across several.
- Is a higher VO2 max always better performance?
- It sets a ceiling but does not determine performance. Running economy and lactate threshold often separate athletes with identical VO2 max.
