Force Converter

Force across newtons, kilogram force and pound force. A kilogram is a mass and a kilogram force is a weight, and treating them as the same thing is the mistake this dimension exists to prevent.

Also called: newtons to pounds force, kgf converter.

How this is calculated

The newton is the SI unit: the force that accelerates one kilogram at one metre per second squared. A kilogram force is the weight of one kilogram in standard gravity, so it carries the value of g inside it, which is why it is 9.80665 newtons rather than one. The same relationship gives the pound force from the pound mass.
