What is GST?
Goods and Services Tax: a single indirect tax on supply, charged at each stage with credit for the tax already paid on inputs.
A supply within one state splits equally into central and state GST; one across state lines is collected as a single integrated tax. The customer pays the same either way, so the split is an apportionment question rather than a pricing one.
from a tax-inclusive price: net = gross / (1 + rate)Not to be confused with Sales tax
A US sales tax is charged once, at the final retail sale, with no credit mechanism. GST is charged at every stage and refunded through input credit, so only the value added at each step is taxed.
